Sharon Gayle Thomas - beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend - peacefully entered into the presence of our Lord on March 1, 2025 at the age of 75. She was born on January 17, 1950, to George Burton Sartor, Sr. and Lorene Vivian (Ward) Sartor.
Sharon married the love of her life, Robert Lee Thomas, and together they built a beautiful life over fifty-four years of marriage. She was a devoted mother to her children, Lana Fite and husband, Bobby, Jennifer James and husband, David, and Jeff Thomas and wife, Janice. Her greatest joy was being "Nana" to her cherished grandchildren: Dylan, Katie, Colin, Farrah, Carson, Aidan, and Maggie. She is also survived by her loving brother, George Sartor, Jr. and his wife, Patti.
A graduate of Teague High School, Sharon furthered her education at Jacksonville Baptist College and the University of Texas at Tyler. She had a passion for teaching and spent many years as a dedicated 2nd grade teacher. Her commitment to education was recognized in 2004 when she was honored as Teacher of the Year at Higgins Elementary School.
Sharon's faith was the cornerstone of her life, and she led by example. She was passionate about reading and studying God's Word and was a fierce prayer warrior.
As a longtime faithful member of Central Baptist Church in Tyler, she was actively involved in Meal Ministry and served in many other ministries through the years, including PATH and Jail Ministry.
In all her years, Sharon's greatest joy came from spending time with family and friends. Her home was the hub for the family, where her homemade meals were legendary. She looked forward to big family vacations and enjoyed Supper Club with special friends for many years.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Sharon's life on Saturday, March 15th at 1:00 pm at Central Baptist Church, 1343 East Grande Boulevard in Tyler, Texas. Informal visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Central Baptist Church Youth Camp Fund.
Sharon leaves behind a legacy of faith, kindness, and unwavering love for her family and friends. Her love, wisdom, and laughter will forever be in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
