In loving memory of Elizabeth Jane Bradberry. She began her heavenly journey on January 11, 2025, after a brief illness, and living with LAM's disease for ten years. She passed into Jesus' arms and will be truly missed.
Betsey, as she was known, was born December 22, 1957, to John Willis Bradberry, Jr. and Jane Warner Smellie in Wiesbaden, Germany. She began school in Sheepshead Bay, New York before moving to Tyler in 1964, where she completed her education and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School. She went on to earn a BBA at East Texas State University, Commerce, Texas.
She then worked as a Not-For-Profit Executive for over thirty-five years. Initially, she worked for the United Way of Tyler, then the YMCA of Tyler, where she loved working for many years. Next, she worked at Bethel Bible Church of Tyler, where she made many cherished friends. She also worked at the Catholic Diocese of Tyler, Rusk State Hospital and Habitat for Humanity of Smith County.
She is survived by her sister, Lucinda Jane Thomson and brother-in-law Robert M. Thomson, of Hideaway Lake, Texas;her nephew, John Phillip Thomson of Longview; her niece, Samantha Jane Thomson of Lubbock; her nephew, Michael Alexander Thomson of Tyler; and her beloved dog, Punkin.
Betsey or "Bets", as she was called by her closest friends, had a warm, caring heart, greeted you with a smile, had a bold contagious laugh and gave the best hugs ever. Bets was generous and always busy with her hands. She loved sewing and knitting and making her mom's pimiento cheese to share with others. The pimiento cheese was legendary and coveted by those that were fortunate enough to receive it.
The family wishes to express their extreme gratitude to her best friend, Tom Prothro, and his wife Kim, for all their assistance during this trying time and all the love they have given her through the years. The family also wishes to thank Betsey's longtime friend Lisa Pierce and to thank Carey Wallace and her family; both of these special friends loved Betsey so well in her final years.
