It is with profound sadness that we must share that Chris Gouldthorpe passed away Sunday, January 5, 2025, in Tyler. He was born on December 23, 1988, also in Tyler to Janet Christine Halliday and John Bradford Gouldthorpe. Chris was a cherished son, brother, husband, father, uncle and friend who touched countless lives.
Chris attended Chapel Hill as a proud Bulldog, then graduated from Robert E. Lee High School and went on to found and own First Choice Construction and Repair. Here he built not only homes, but lasting relationships in his community. Known for his generosity and unwavering support, Chris was a cornerstone in the lives of those he knew. He coached his daughter's softball team at Chapel Hill and was actively involved in all his children's sports, proudly cheering them on and guiding them with love.
Chris had a heart as big as his presence, offering help wherever it was needed, giving the warmest hugs, and sharing a contagious smile that could light up any room. He loved making his friends and family laugh, a gift he shared with everyone around him.
Above all, Chris treasured his family. He was an incredible husband to Catherine, his loving wife of ten years and a devoted father to his three children; Charlotte, Jaxon, and Samantha. He especially loved spending time with his family at their beach house in Matagorda, Texas, fishing and enjoying the beauty of the coast.
Chris leaves behind countless grieving friends and loved ones, including his mother, Janet Gouldthorpe; his brother, JT (Kristen) Gouldthorpe and children; his sister, Magean (Dalton) Skipper and children; his brother, Brad Thompson and children; his brother, Brandon Gouldthorpe and children; as well as his extended family, friends, and the many lives he touched in his community.
Chris will be remembered for his love, laughter, and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of all who knew him.
Honorary pallbearers will be JT Gouldthorpe, Chris Beddingfield, Jerome Lee, Joel Nash, Clint Heron, Jason Conley.
