Blanche Reuther Bergmeier passed from this world into the arms of Jesus on February 8, 2025 at the age of 95, in Tyler, Texas.
Blanche was born to Robert Lee Reuther, Jr. and Betty Miller Reuther on January 2, 1930 in Nashville, Tennessee. She graduated from Hillsboro High School in Nashville and continued her education at The University of Tennessee in Knoxville where she was a member of the Alpha Omicron Pi sorority. It was there that she met the love of her life, Ronald Leslie Bergmeier from St. Louis, Missouri, who came to UT-Knoxville on a football scholarship. They met on a blind date and for the rest of their lives loved each other exclusively. They married on July 15, 1950, and enjoyed sixty-five years of marriage. They went on to have two daughters, Betty and Bonnie, and moved their family to St. Louis, Missouri (Creve Coeur) in 1957. Ron and Blanche remained in St. Louis until 2010, while wintering in Naples, Florida and the Rio Grande Valley of Texas after retiring. They moved in their later years to The Legends in Lindale, Texas and then to The Hamptons in Tyler, Texas.
In addition to being a dedicated wife and loving mother, Blanche loved gardening and was an accomplished seamstress. Her main two part-time jobs involved both of these talents: Deutschmann's Nursery & Greenhouse in Des Peres, Missouri and Jackman's Fabric's. She was very involved for fifty years at her church: Parkway Baptist, where she initiated and created many beautiful banners for the Banner Ministry. When she moved to Tyler, Blanche became a member of Green Acres Baptist Church. She was a prayer warrior for many, and was a life-long student of her Bible. Blanche enjoyed playing many card games, Mahjong, jigsaw puzzles and crossword puzzles, and was very artistic with an eye for beauty.
Blanche was preceded in death by her husband, Ron Bergmeier; her parents and her two brothers, Robert Lee Reuther, III and Arthur Miller Reuther.
She is survived by her two daughters, Betty Rich and husband, Dale of Crossville, Tennessee and Bonnie Griffin and husband, Mike of Tyler, Texas. She has six beautiful grandchildren and five great grandchildren: Kyle Griffin (Lindsay) and their children, Liam & Claire of Bullard, Texas; Matthew Rich and his son, Brayden of Scottsdale, Arizona; Joel Rich (Dav) of London, England; Luke Griffin (Sara) and their sons, Easton and Landon of Tyler, Texas; Emily Rich of Nashville, Tennessee; and Cody Griffin of Denver, Colorado.
Blanche supported many Christian charities and non-profit organizations. She was a generous woman with a gracious heart, and all who knew her were blessed by her.
John 11: 25-26 "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Those who believe in me, even though they die, will live, and everyone who lives and believes in me will never die.' "
